Diwali Rituals And Traditions

Diwali is celebrated on the 15th of the month Kartik, who is the new moon day known as "amavasya" in Hindi. Diwali is celebrated worldwide with great zeal and joy. The festival, which lasts five days of Diwali begins in October or November when the new season. The day of Diwali is also considered as the beginning of New Year in many regions.

Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains alike. The method of prayer in all religions are different, but the form of celebration is the same. The most important part of the celebrations of Independence Day is the lighting of the lamps around the house. The lamps are treated as a symbol of hope and joy. Light dispels the darkness of the night and brings new faith in the lives of people.

The defeat of the darkness by the light is celebrated by sharing sweets and gifts. Fireworks are used to add more light to the festivities. Each of the five days that has a different set of rituals. Here is a description of the rituals and traditions followed during the Independence Day.

The first day of Diwali is dedicated to the goddess of wealth. People clean and redecorate their homes and workplaces. They buy gold and silver ornaments, worship Goddess Laxmi and pray for good fortune throughout the year. Some also believe in buying new utensils on this day. The common belief is that the wealth of spending this day attracts more wealth.

Narakchaudas is the second day of Diwali. This day people get up early in the morning and usually take a bath with cleansing from a thick mixture of gram flour and fragrant essential oils. Chaud, day 14 and therefore 14 diya flour and butter is made and placed in every room of the house.

The third day of the festival of Diwali is the most important five days. The celebrations begin to make rangoli motif in driveways (to welcome the gods and goddesses). People prepare sweets and meal. In the evening a Diwali prayer is done in favor of the goddess Laxmi and the people broke fireworks light up your home.

The fourth day of Diwali is dedicated to the tools. The farmers worship their cattle and farm tools, business of their business and they pray to the gods to bless the rest of the year. The fifth and final day of the holidays are brothers and sisters. Brothers receive gifts for their brothers and sisters prepare delicacies from their hands to feed their siblings.
